Fruits of the Family Rosary

“We need to return to the practice of family prayer and prayer for families, continuing to use the rosary.” – Pope St. John Paul II

St. John Paul II was a great champion of the rosary. He and many other saints and popes have given compelling reasons to instill this devotion in every family. With this in mind, I’ve assembled a list of quotes that may help you make yours a Daily Rosary Family.

According to our spiritual ancestors, here is a sampling of grace that you can expect to obtain for your family from such a devotion.

Unity within your family

“The family that prays together stays together.” – Servant of God Fr. Patrick Peyton.

“The holy rosary by age old tradition, has shown itself particularly effective as a prayer which brings the family together.” – Pope St. John Paul II

“The holy rosary drives away family disintegration; it is a secure bond of communion and peace.” – Pope Saint John Paul II

A source of blessings

“We are persuaded that families will receive from this salutary form of prayer a guarantee of heavenly blessings.” – Pope St. John XIII

“The rosary… is the most effective in gaining heaven’s blessings.” – Blessed Pope Paul VI

“The Holy Rosary is the storehouse of countless blessings.” – Blessed Alan de la Roche

Peace and happiness

“If you desire peace in your hearts, in your homes and in your country, assemble each evening to recite the rosary. Let not even one day pass without saying it, no matter how burdened you may be with many cares and labors.” – Pope Pius XI

“There is no surer means of calling down God’s blessings upon the family and especially of preserving happiness in the home than the daily recitation of the rosary.” – Venerable Pope Pius XII

Overcoming difficulties

“No normal mind yet has ever been overcome by worries or fears who was faithful to the Rosary.” – Venerable Fulton J. Sheen

“There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the holy rosary.” – Servant of God Lucia dos Santos

“To pray the rosary is to handover our burdens to the merciful hearts of Christ and his mother.” – St. John Paul II

Protection

“The rosary can bring families through all dangers and evils.” – Servant of God Fr. Patrick Peyton

“Arm yourselves with the arms of God – with the holy rosary – and you will crush the devil’s head and you will stand firm in the face of all of his temptations.” – St. Louis de Montfort

“The Rosary is a spiritual ‘weapon’ in the battle against evil, against all violence, for peace in hearts, in families, in society and in the world.” – Benedict XVI

Help with integrating the Gospel into everyday life

“The holy rosary offers us a summary of the gospel, and is an easy and accessible way, to prayer from the heart.” – Pope St. John Paul II

“The rosary is a gospel prayer.” – Blessed Pope Paul VI

“The rosary gives us the great truths of His life and death to meditate upon and brings them nearer to our hearts.” – St. John Henry Newman

Growth in holiness and virtue

“If you want to live a holy life, cultivate devotion to Mary in your family. Gather your children in prayer in the recitation of the holy rosary.” – Servant of God Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo

“The rosary helps us to be conformed ever more closely to Christ until we attain true holiness.” – Pope Saint John Paul II

“To become perfect, say a rosary every day.” – St. Louis de Montfort

Eternal life in Heaven

“Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly…shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.” – Our Lady to St. Dominic”

The rosary is the most excellent form of prayer and the most efficacious means of attaining eternal life…It is the remedy for all evils, the root of all our blessings There is no more excellent way of praying.” – Pope Leo XIII

“The rosary is a prayer which God, through his church and our Lady, has recommended most insistently to all as a road to and gateway of salvation.” – Servant of God Lucia dos Santos

If only everybody knew that such a wellspring of grace existed, it is difficult to imagine the daily rosary would not be eagerly employed by every Christian family.

One Final Quote

And in case you anticipate difficulty in adapting your family to the daily rhythm of the rosary, here is one final quote from Pope St. John Paul II:

“It could be objected that the Rosary seems hardly suited to the taste of children and young people of today. But perhaps the objection is directed to an impoverished method of praying it…There is nothing to stop children and young people from praying it… with appropriate symbolic and practical aids to understanding and appreciation. Why not try it?... If the rosary is well presented, I am sure that young people will once more surprise adults by the way they make this prayer their own and recite it with the enthusiasm typical of their age group.”

Let us never underestimate the power of the rosary and the ability of any family to adopt this precious inheritance.”

St. John Paul II, RVM,

Totus Tuus,

Hail Mary, full of grace, pray for us!

Debbie
