The Gift

"To say that man is created in the image and likeness of God

means that man is called to exist 'for' others, to become a gift."

St. John Paul II

Christ, the Bridegroom of our heart and soul is the perfect example of self-giving love. The Schoenstatt Unity Cross reveals Christ’s love for his Bride the Church. On the Cross, Jesus unites himself to his Bride in a new and everlasting covenant. Christ’s free, total, faithful, and fruitful gift pours forth from his side. Mary, Icon of the Church, receives his love in the chalice. The love of the Bridegroom is the love of the Trinity, an eternal exchange of life-giving love. The Bridegroom invites each one of us to share in his gift, how do we respond?

“The 'sincere gift' contained in the Sacrifice of the Cross gives definitive prominence to the spousal meaning of God’s love. As the Redeemer of the world, Christ is the Bridegroom of the Church.”

St. John Paul II
